The Guidelines for gender affirming healthcare for gender diverse and transgender children, young people and adults in Aotearoa, New Zealand 2018 have been published by the Transgender Health Research Lab of the University of Waikato, and endorsed by the Australian and New Zealand Professional Association for Transgender Health, the New Zealand Sexual Health Society and the New Zealand Society of Endocrinology. Kiwi men are being urged to take note of a new study into the rates of the cancer-linked human papilloma virus (HPV) in men.

The study is reigniting debate over the Government's vaccine policy. Right now girls can be vaccinated against HPV for free, but not boys.

A new online resource of sexual health information has been launched to bring much-needed information and education to the New Zealand public, and in particular, at-risk youth. Designed with young people in mind, the JUST THE FACTS website aims to dispel myths and provide simple, up-to-date information about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and related issues to target those at most risk.

NZSHS have released the Syphilis in Pregnancy guideline (v1 Sep 2020). The guideline provides evidence based and consensus recommendations for health professionals on the management of syphilis in pregnancy. The information in the guideline was current at the time of publication but is subject to change.

New resource launched by New Zealand Aids Foundation

Why should I use condoms? is an educational resource for young men who have sex with men (MSM) that supports them in making positive and informed decisions to address their specific sexual health needs.

While this resource is built for educators, it has also been designed for other adults working to support the sexual health needs of young MSM.

Why should I use condoms? is a resource provided by the New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF), in partnership with Love Your Condom (LYC) – an HIV prevention programme run by NZAF that works specifically for MSM.

'Gender diverse' classification to be used in NZ

A new gender classification for people who don't see themselves as just male or female has been developed and New Zealand will be the first to adopt it.

"Gender diverse" will now join the "male" and "female" categories when Statistics New Zealand collects data on Kiwis' gender.

It will also be used by government organisations. But is still being decided how it will be implemented and used across information collection.

The 2015 New Zealand HIV Clinical Update was a great success marking three decades of action against HIV. This is the only national HIV clinical meeting in New Zealand and has been held annually for many years. Presentations from those speakers who gave their permission and love video recordings are available on the Presentations Page.
