New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) is set to promote its National HIV Testing Month in May 2015. There is a focussed effort over the entire month to encourage Kiwiis to test for HIV & STIs, and to raise awareness of risk factors. Testing can be a daunting thought for many and which is why a supportive environement is key in making a decision to test.

Taking gender out of the equation

Schools have been asked to consider offering gender-neutral uniforms as part of new sexuality education guidelines aimed at being more inclusive. Advice from the Ministry of Education, released yesterday, also suggested schools could review toilet spaces, allow same-sex partners at balls, and be aware of grouping students by gender in sports classes to help a more diverse range of students feel safe.

HPV vaccine for boys wins wide support

HPV or human papillomavirus is one of New Zealand's most common infections and the virus is linked to cervical cancer. For this reason the Government only funds vaccination against the virus for teenage girls and the funding is not available for boys.
